Signature Flight Support celebrated the launch of its subsidiary, Signature TECHNICAir Dulles, today during a ribbon cutting ceremony held at its Washington Dulles International Airport (KIAD) location.
Signature TECHNICAir also announced that it was awarded certification as an Embraer Authorized Service Center and will perform maintenance, repair and overhaul services for the full line of Embraer Business Jets. This certification adds significantly to TECHNICAir Dulles’ portfolio including airframe, powerplant, avionics, RVSM pitot/static testing and aircraft on ground (AOG) services for a variety of business and general aviation aircraft. TECHNICAir Dulles also provides mobile AOG services to outlying airports in Virginia, Maryland and Washington, DC.
Coinciding with the TECHNICAir Dulles launch, Signature Flight Support Dulles completed a renovation of its passenger terminal creating more space for customers, adding conveniences and amenities. Entertainment upgrades were added in the waiting areas including new flat panel TVs with AppleTV, iPads available for use while waiting and upgraded WiFi connections. Other modifications were made to ADA specifications with the addition of a new elevator and restroom upgrades.
Commenting on new developments at Signature Dulles, Maria Sastre, Signature Flight Support’s President and Chief Operating Officer stated, “We are excited about our new TECHNICAir MRO location at Washington Dulles International Airport. The Embraer Authorized Service Center certification will bring new business to the airport seeking TECHNICAir’s MRO expertise. Signature Flight Support Corporation recently purchased the assets of Sun Aircraft Services, Inc. which was a long-term MRO provider and tenant at Signature’s Dulles location prior to the acquisition. Signature rebranded the company to become part of its TECHNICAir network. With this acquisition, TECHNICAir, a FAR Part 145 repair station, now has 6 locations in North America including Bedford, MA (KBED); Bozeman, MT (KBZN); Kansas City, MO (KMKC); Omaha, NE (KOMA) and St. Paul, MN (KSTP).

The Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority was established in 1987 by the governments of Virginia and the District of Columbia to manage and operate Washington’s Ronald Reagan National and Dulles International airports, which together serve more than 40 million passengers a year. The Airports Authority also operates and maintains the Dulles Airport Access Road and the Dulles Toll Road and manages construction of the Silver Line project, a 23-mile extension of the Washington region’s Metrorail system into Loudoun County, Va. No taxpayer money is used to operate the toll road, which is funded by toll revenues, or the airports, which are funded through aircraft landing fees, rents and revenues from concessions.
